Experts for maintenance of traffic infrastructure

PEC – Petschacher Consulting ZT GmbH

We were founded in 1997 as a structural engineering company focused on special fields summarised as maintenance of traffic infrastructure. Activities started mainly in the field of reliability analysis and bridge maintenance, dealing with existing structures to keep them in service and predict residual lifetime, needs knowledge of actual research outcomes and employment of sophisticated traffic analysis methods. PEC can be characterised as a research and innovative company which looks for new and sometimes unconventional solutions for clients.

The company is located in southern Austria embedded in a stunning landscape where people come for recreation. We use this environment to get new ideas, it is an inspiration for developments like our patented bridge weigh-in-motion system iBWIM (Bridge-Weigh-In-Motion). It has already passed through a long-term development process and is being used for many traffic measurements, which makes it a viable tool for structural health monitoring which is  receiving increased attention as well as maintenance of traffic infrastructure.

Traditional structural engineering and inspections are provided too. The designing of bridges, steel and aluminium constructions, is part of our services as well.  Our mission is increasing sustainability of infrastructure.  We interpret this as supporting decision makers in optimising maintenance strategies, observing traffic loads to relate them to code assumptions in order to seek for hidden capacity, having a bigger view onto the network by estimating the reliability and taking part in safety evaluations of infrastructure to quantify risks. PEC tries to be noticeable with their services and products.
